How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I have been a member of Fit Chick for less than a year.

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? I love knowing that it will be a different, challenging workout every time I go! My biggest challenge is listening to my body and knowing that there are some things I just shouldn’t do.

What is your favorite part of FCE?  I like the format of a half hour of hard work in the boot camps. It’s quick but effective. I also love the constant instruction and guidance from Angie. I feel like I have a personal trainer while I’m working out to tell me if I’m doing something wrong or offer advice for better form or intensity. I also love the variety of different work outs.

What advice would you offer to newbies? Try it out! It’s a great group of women who provide a supportive atmosphere.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE.  Supportive, tough, rewarding and fun!

What is your favorite part of FCE? It’s only 30 minutes long and it is different every time. And the people are all very friendly.

What advice would you offer to newbies? Stick with it! If you are sore that means you are making progress. And it always feels better after you work out again.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE.  It’s a great way to stay in shape and it’s never boring 🙂

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? One year. I drove by FCE several times on my way home from work and thought why not?  I saw there was a two week trial and said to myself ‘I can do anything for 2 weeks’. I loved the two week trial and have continued ever since.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? I have lost weight and several inches since coming here. It keeps me motivated to continue on a path of a healthy lifestyle. When first starting the classes, there were many exercises I couldn’t do and now I can! I never thought I’d say this but even the burpees are easier than before…….

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? The different work outs each day are motivating. IT IS NOT BORING!!! 😉  I love that everyday it’s different and challenging from the cardio, strength and core training.  I also had chronic shoulder pain from college sports that was awful each and every day.  I am so happy to say that pain is 95% gone now!  I owe this to FCE.

What is your favorite part of FCE? I really love how the instructors keep me motivated by changing it up, encouraging me, challenging me & modifying the exercises when needed.

What advice would you offer to newbies? Keep coming!!!  It’s fun and the work outs do get easier.  You will look forward to coming to class! It’s a Happy Place.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE. I’ve had a wonderful, positive and life changing experience that I hope to continue at FCE

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I have been a member of FCE since November of 2015.  I joined FCE when I recognized that 4 years post baby was my own personal statute of limitations for blaming my excess around the mid-section as “baby weight”!  I had always exercised by climbing mountains and playing outside. I was a complete newbie to the “gym” environment but knew I needed to incorporate something more practical and convenient in order to become part of a daily routine.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? Coming each week and integrating FCE as a regular part of my schedule. Proving to myself I could stick with it for a year plus!

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? Accountability and cost. One of the driving factors is that people actually notice and call you out if you don’t show up to class. The days I’m feeling lazy or tired, I often barter with myself and consider the cost per class in conjunction with the commitment I’ve made to show up. It’s a good idea to register for classes in advance – makes you feel super guilty if you have to cancel.

What is you favorite part of FCE? Hands down, the community of women! Must admit I was nervous to join at first, not in good shape, never been to a “gym” kind of environment and those initial classes kicked my butt! That said, what I discovered early on was that I was surrounded by a group of women with very different backgrounds and there was no judgment. My unease was quickly dissolved and followed by a willingness to get in shape, appreciate my body for both its strengths and flaws and I truly enjoy the time I spend a few times a week with some very sweet and very funny women.

What advice would you offer to newbies? Stick with it – it does get easier and before too long you will actually start looking forward to going to class. FCE also has some various challenges and subgroups that help you better understand your health and habits on a more personalized level. Take advantage of these programs – I have learned a lot about my triggers and lifestyle.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE? It has been a wonderful and fun experience for me, I am so happy I got over my initial hesitations and have stuck with it.

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I have been a member of Fit Chick Express since September 2009. I won a free month of classes, and after my first class I realized I wasn’t in nearly as good shape as I thought I was. 😉 It felt good to be challenged.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? I have had MANY accomplishments since becoming a Fit Chick! I finished the Spartan Race with fellow Fit Chicks and felt really strong. I have become a personal trainer and kickboxing instructor and LOVE sharing what I do with others. My feelings about my body and how it serves me has evolved so that I look at it with appreciation and thankfulness rather than obsession over a number on the scale. And most importantly, I have found a family of women who have embraced me, helped me through the hardest time in my life and who I know I can count on for anything.

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? Being accountable to get to the gym when I’ve made an appointment for class is a huge motivator for me. I used to exercise for 6 months out of the year — when it wasn’t dark outside. Once I started Fit Chick and knew that someone would be looking for me if I didn’t show up, I showed up!

A big obstacle for me has always been the nutrition portion of fitness. I ate all white things and vegetables were a rarity. I have seen that no amount of exercise can make up for a balanced diet. In the past few years, I have realized that I have a gluten intolerance. Having Fit Chick support from the other members and trainers has helped me to take away many of those white foods that made me sick and to learn how to eat differently to nourish my body.

Most recently, I took time away from Fit Chick to take care of my terminally ill husband. While Minh was sick, and after he passed away, I forgot all focus on myself — what I need to do to take care of my body, soul and heart. The Fit Chicks have been an amazing army of friends that came to my rescue in those crisis months and who still help me take care of myself now.

What is your favorite part of FCE?  My favorite part of FCE is the friendship and support that I feel with my fellow Fit Chicks. I love sharing yoga, PIYO, zumba, bootcamp and kickboxing with this beautiful group of women and having fun while staying fit!

What advice would you offer to newbies? The thing that I love most about Fit Chick is what was most difficult for me…meeting the other women and forming connections. I would say to have FUN at your workouts, laugh at yourself and with the women working out with you and soon enough you will grow to appreciate the friendships you will form here just as others will appreciate you.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE. Fit Chick Express is my home away from home and my family away from family.

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here?

I have been a member for about 4 years and my good friend Sarah encouraged me to join her, so she could get free classes.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? While I haven’t lost much weight, I have decreased my percent body fat and continue to feel strong and motivated while coming to class. I am convinced that attending class and following Angie’s nutritional advice helped me train for and run a half marathon uninjured. I’ve also climbed a couple of fourteeners since joining FCE.

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? Honestly, the payment plan keeps me motivated! I hate to waste money, so I have found the prepayment process really keeps me signing up and attending the classes. My main obstacle is that because I have been running and skiing for many years, (it’s not cause I’m over 50 or anything) my knees have finally worn out. The modifications that the instructors provide me are awesome!

What is your favorite part of FCE?  I can’t lie, the fact that the classes are 30 min long is my favorite thing. That makes it very difficult to stay home and wimp out. Also, I can make it a harder workout on the days I need it by increasing speed or reps. It was a great cross training tool to use when I trained for a half marathon.

What advice would you offer to newbies? I’m sure Angie doesn’t want me to say this, but once you get started and do it for a month or so, STOP coming to class for a while. That’s how I learned that when you go back again, you find out you never should have stopped!!  It’s an amazing difference. And every time I take a break, I pay…if you can, don’t stop.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE. The motivational tools, camaraderie and awesome instructors have kept me showing up to class for several years and I expect to continue for as long as they will have me!
