INFRARED SAUNA GUIDE

Check out the MANY BENEFITS of Infrared Saunas HERE

A how-to guide and tips for before, during and after using an infrared sauna.

When you think about using a sauna, you’ve no doubt figured out most of it- get in and sweat. But there’s more to it than that. Make sure to read through the list below before signing up for your first Infrared Sauna session.

  1. Make sure to drink at least 8-10 oz of water anytime before your sauna session. Bring a water bottle in with you during your session and drink periodically. Stay Hydrated! Most people do not drink enough water, to begin with, and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated, so continue drinking lots of water following your session.
  2. All of our Sauna sessions are 30 minutes. If you wish to go longer, you will need to schedule and pay for 2-30 minute sessions. 60 minutes session is the max amount allowed.
  3. Bring a bathing suit or shorts and a sports bra to wear during your session. Loose fitting and breathable work best!
  4. Sauna use is good anytime! If your muscles are sore or tight, schedule one before your workout to help loosen you up. Or after a workout to help with muscle recovery. Actually, ANYTIME is good!
  5. Start your sauna session at 140 degrees. If at any time you get too warm, turn the temp down or open the door a little bit to help cool the sauna down some.
  6. Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. If you feel lightheaded, have a queasy stomach, or start to get a headache, terminate sthe ession immediately. As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective.
  7. Feel free to connect your own cell phone or Ipod/mp3 player to our wireless speaker outside of the sauna. Use your own music or find something we have on Pandora that suits your mood. Or just play our basic Relaxing Spa Music. **DO NOT BRING YOUR CELL PHONE INTO THE SAUNA! THE TEMPS GET TOO HIGH FOR THEM.
  8. Bring a book or read one of our magazines OR just relax and enjoy the time by yourself.
  9. NO children under 18 allowed in the sauna.
  10. Sometimes medications we’ve taken get stored in fat cells. Some people say we have memories and emotions locked in our cells. As the infrared light penetrates your body and stirs up cells, you might experience old emotions or taste old medication. This is not abnormal and is a good indication that you are ridding your body of the stuff that should not be there.
  11.  If you’re pregnant or have a significant illness, please consult your physician before using a sauna. To read about more contraindications for infrared sauna use, click here.
