How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I’m not even sure anymore how long I’ve been with FCE! I came to a Zumba class with friends from work back in 2011, I believe. Shakin’ it in front of a room full of people intimidated the hell out of me! I did Zumba for about a year before Dawna suggested I try the Boot Camp classes. I’ve also done Kickboxing with Stephanie since she started it up a few years ago and now I can’t imagine a Saturday morning without it!

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? CONFIDENCE!  I’ve accomplished so many amazing things since I started here: climbing Bierstadt, running a few 5k races, improved numbers on assorted lab tests,  having the confidence in my body to do a boudoir photo session, getting my running time down to a 10-minute mile… who knows what’s yet to come?!

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? My biggest obstacle has been my own body. I tore an ab muscle two years ago and had to take a long break from any activity. That, combined with stress , a job change, and getting married, has caused a big setback on my health goals and I gained 18 pounds back. That’s heartbreaking after having worked so hard to get 75 pounds off! I also have shoulder and wrist weakness so I feel like I’m always having to take it easy or modify. Luckily, the trainers at FCE are amazingly kind and supportive and make great modifications and workouts that still challenge me.

What is your favorite part of FCE? The way if makes me feel! I feel so energized after each workout (no matter how much I complain during it!)

What advice would you offer to newbies? Stick with it, give it a good chance.  Don’t give up even after setbacks. It takes time to see results but you’ll feel so great and THAT’s what’s important!

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE.  FCE is a great place for fast and fierce workouts and new friendships!

Featured Fit Chick – Nikki

 How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? My experience at FCE has empowered me to take a firm hold of my future and live my very best life!

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? My most major accomplishment since becoming an FCE member would have to be my overall strength. I love that I can finally see some muscle in my arms and that’s a reminder of all my hard work.

 What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? My motivation comes from wanting to be healthy and to keep up with my kids. When I first started working out, I had horrible exercise-induced asthma. Each time I worked out, it was a struggle. However, every week I could see that I was building stamina and strength.

What is your favorite part of FCE? I love the quick, and intense boot camp classes. I feel that I get a great workout in a short amount of time. I also love the instructors and the members.

What advice would you offer to newbies? The advice that I would give to new members would be to fight through the pain. To be patient for results, because it doesn’t happen overnight!!

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE.  My experiences here at FCE has been happy, healthy and fun.

 How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? 7 months and was referred by Amy Stoehr, and a desire to be fit and healthy.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? Participating in and finishing my first 5k Dirty Girl Mud Run

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? All of the wonderful trainers and new friends that I have made. The way I feel after working out and how I look compared to when I started.

I have had to overcome my lack of confidence and feeling comfortable in working out in general and realizing I can do it!

What is your favorite part of FCE? FCE is a non judgemental place to work out with ladies of all ages and fitness levels. I love having instructors who truly care about you and want to help you succeed in obtaining your fitness goals. All of the wonderful ladies are an extra added bonus, I have made new great friends.

What advice would you offer to newbies?  I would tell newbies to come in and try everything out and to not be intimidated, this is a very welcoming place to be! Everyone is very friendly and helpful.

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE.  FCE is amazing, it has truly changed my life for the better, I look and feel amazing!

Featured Fit Chick – Alexis

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I’ve been a member of Fit Chick for about 9 months. I came to Fit Chick after moving to Colorado from NY. A work friend, hint red hair/completely crazy, told me about this place and was very inviting!

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? I’ve lost some weight, gained some muscle. No idea how much gained or lost because I don’t measure! My greatest accomplishment here has nothing to do with physical changes but all the mental ones. My attitude towards food, working out and eliminating my shy temperament. Okay still working on the shy thing- but Fit Chick changes more than your body for sure.

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? What keeps me motivated is the high of feeling good. Whenever I don’t want to show up to class I try to really focus on that “I just worked out and I feel so amazing” vibe and carry on.

My shoulder pain is a huge obstacle- plus I’m really uncomfortable in groups. So, when you have an injury and are in a group of people and you can’t participate in the same activity, well, it makes you (maybe just me?) feel strange. I really had to get over myself and accept that I can’t do some things and it’s okay!

What is your favorite part of FCE? The community is really great! I love the variety of classes and instructors!

What advice would you offer to newbies?  Try every class! Find what you love, let go what you don’t. Talk to the trainers, tell them what hurts and make the adjustments and just have fun!

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE.  FCE has been an uplifting, inspiring and loving place.

 How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I first joined Fit Chicks in 2010. My good friend won the challenge that year and looked AMAZING (she still does)! I had to see what she was doing! I left thinking I could find something better, more challenging, or convenient. Sometimes you don’t know what you have until it’s gone! I rejoined about a year ago.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? My greatest accomplishment is making a commitment to myself. I hold myself accountable and take time for ME!

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? My kids keep me motivated. Wanting to change keeps me motivated. Of course, Angie, Bobbie, Aimee and Stephanie help, too! I’ve had many obstacles to overcome including poor body image and eating disorders. Also, I have a bad back; degenerative disk disease, and that can really interfere with my fitness goals.

What is your favorite part of FCE? My favorite part of Fit Chicks are all the strong, funny, lovely ladies! Besides that, you can’t beat the convenience and great motivation.

What advice would you offer to newbies?  Give it a try! It’s a great addition to whatever else you are doing, or a great start to a healthy lifestyle.

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE. My journey with Fit Chicks has been challenging, rewarding and FUN!

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? I have been coming to Fit Chicks for 3 years. I met Angie at an event and signed up for her newsletter. I received her newsletter for over a year and finally took her up on a free two week trial.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? I finally felt good enough to be in my family pictures! I sent one to EVERYONE I knew and even had them framed and put up around our house! It is a reminder of how hard I worked to get to that “comfortable” place.

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? I have had many injuries, but love that the Fit Chicks team is so open to modifying workouts and it keeps me motivated to not give up.

What is your favorite part of FCE? My favorite part of Fit Chicks Express is knowing that I’m going to get a great workout in a short time! My time is very valuable and I need every minute to count! In 30 minutes I feel strong and confident when I leave! An added bonus…If you haven’t been for a while Angie will call you out! Funny thing is you’ll be back the next day ready to jump back in!!

What advice would you offer to newbies?  Try everything Fit Chick has to offer! You won’t be disappointed!

In one sentence, how would you describe your experience at FCE.  Fit Chick Express has given me a place to feel confident about myself and my body. I enjoy the other women that work out with me and feel motivated to continue my journey to being fit!
