Being Sick Is No Fun!

This was me about 10 days ago. Started off as a little bit of sore throat, so I worked out and had a good productive day. Woke up the next morning and thought I had been run over by a bus–right in the face!

I have not been to a doctor for over 8 years. Nor have I been on any medications or antibiotics for that long, other than the occasional ibuprofen for cramps! 😉 So when I started feeling icky, I turned to my doTerra Essential Oils instead. I have been using these oils for about 4 years now and I can’t imagine my life without them. I use them daily.. no lie!

My symptoms were, sore throat, swollen glands, bad sinus pressure and headache, congestion, tired and achy. Here are the oils that I used during my 10 days of sickness.

Sinus Oils

I started that first day with putting 3 drops of On Guard, 2 drops of Oregano, 3 drops of Rosemary, and 1 drop of Breathe into a shot glass, filled it with water and downed it, followed by another glass of water. Not the best tasting, but knew it would help! I did this every day and night for about the first 5 days.

During the day, to help with the sinus pressure, I would drop 1 drop of Peppermint, 2 drops of On Guard and 2 drops of Breathe into the palm of my hand, rubbed it all together and just rubbed it all over my face, particularly on my sinuses. It definitely cleared up my sinuses for a while and helped with the pressure. I would also use the Eucalyptus instead of the Peppermint every once in a while. I do recommend putting a carrier oil, such as coconut oil along with it, especially if you are not used to the oils and/or will be using them daily. I didn’t need to until the last few days, when my skin started to get a little sensitive to them and started getting red. Then I added some coconut oil so that it wasn’t as strong on my skin.

There were times during the day that I would put the Oregano or On Guard on the bottoms of my feet, just for extra “medication”. Again, if you are not used to the oils, make sure to use a carrier oil.

As the sinus congestion started to fade, I noticed it moved into my chest a little. That is when the Eucalyptus and Lime came into play. I added one or the other along with Breathe to my palm and rubbed on my chest. This loosened up whatever was lurking in there and I was able to cough it all out.

Why did I change up the oils that I used and tried different combinations over the 10 days?? Well, just like any other “medication” your body gets used to certain things and you need to switch things up to keep them working for you.

So after just 12 days and NO antibiotics or medicine, I feel so much better!! I know many of my clients who were dealing with this for 3 weeks or more. Gosh I LOVE MY OILS!!

You can find out more about all of these oils by visiting my doTerra website! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!! And stay tuned for many more uses of the oils!
