1. How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here?
I did my trial in October 2012 and joined right away, so approaching 2 years. I moved to Longmont in 2009 from Louisville, where I had a good core of workout friends. We ran 5K’s and did triathlons together. Once I moved here, I didn’t really know anyone and kept thinking I could get into working out on my own. I always started running or biking for a few weeks, but never stayed with it on my own. I found out about FCE through a friend and liked that I could try it first for 2 weeks.
2. What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE?
Getting fit! To me that has been being toned again, having more energy, feeling good about myself, not wearing baggy clothes anymore. I have made my FCE time a priority in my day. Also, making some awesome friends!
3. What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome?
I don’t want to lose what I have gained in being in condition again. I have always been athletic and active. I don’t want to get to the point where I feel like I can’t do something anymore. Obstacles have been not seeing so much the results on the scale and realizing the results are in the mirror.
4. What is your favorite part of FCE?
The friendships, the support, the instructors know me and what my strengths and weaknesses are. I also like that the workouts are never the same. Every day is a surprise! I also love the extra challenges we can opt into (or not), and also the social functions we do as a group. It’s not just a gym I go to and nobody there knows my name or cares beyond the fact that I am another paying customer.
5. What advice would you offer to newbies?
It’s hard at the beginning, but hang in there because at least you’ve already decided to “do something”. I felt so out of shape when I started, which was hard for me because I was always fit. Know that we’ve all been there and there are also others in your shoes. We are a great group of very supportive people and know you have great instructors who are really paying attention to you!! It only gets better and easier.
6. In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE?
Amazingly awesome, best thing that I have done since I moved to Longmont!!
