How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here?  I have been a member of FCE for about a year and half, since August of 2013.  I’d been a runner my whole life, but I wanted to enhance my workouts and wanted them to become more well rounded, as opposed to just running everyday.  Plus, I loved the fact that it was only female.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE?

My greatest accomplishment has been the strength that I have gained – not just in physical strength but in mental strength as well.  Sometimes my mind gets just as much of a workout as my body does!  I feel so much more secure and self-confident knowing that I have accomplished things I never thought I would.  Plus, I’ve gotten a couple running PR’s, and that’s without running training – just from coming to FCE everyday and becoming stronger :).

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome?

My biggest motivation is the way I feel after a workout, whether it be immediately after or farther down the road.  I almost always feel great immediately after a workout, even if it is just a feeling of accomplishment.  I also try to focus on the fact that working out is good for my body and my mind and will have lasting impacts farther down the road, and because of all of this, I find that is much easier to convince myself to do it.  I’ve had to overcome a couple obstacles, mainly injuries.  It is really hard to get injured and convince yourself not to give up.  Having to rest and heal while really wanting to get back to working out is hard, but in the end is well worth it to not expose yourself to re-injury (which I learned the hard way).

What is your favorite part of FCE?

My favorite part of FCE is definitely the atmosphere!  There’s fun music, fun people, and always a different workout to surprise you.  It isn’t like a lot of gyms where I always felt self-conscience or like someone was judging me or watching me.  Here, everyone is willing to help everyone else and there is no judgement whatsoever.  My favorite part of (almost) every day is my workout.

What advice would you offer to newbies?

My advice would be to try to have fun with it.  For me, I found that if I tried to enjoy myself instead of seeing working out as a chore, I enjoyed it much more.   Also, do not give up.  It definitely took me a lot longer than I anticipated to see any sort of result, but once I did, it was fabulous.

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE?

My experience at FCE has been a very rewarding and fun experience that has taught me how to love my body, treat it well, and to love working out.
