Featured Fit Chick – Susan

How long have you been a member of Fit Chick Express and what brought you here? Six years?! Is that right? I started with Angie in Rough and Ready Park before she had a studio! I would drop my daughter at Kinder and bring my young son with me to the park to work out. I was hooked on Angie’s 30 minute boot camp almost from the start.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since becoming a member of FCE? I’m still exercising on a regular basis after starting 6 years ago!

What keeps you motivated? What obstacles have you had to overcome? I am motivated by other Fit Chicks and FCE offering boot camps that never get monotonous or predictable. Angie still throws new exercises into her boot camps that I haven’t done before, and I’m 6 years in!  The online group support and advice helps keep my going. My biggest obstacle has been dealing with an ankle injury (not a FCE incident) for the past two years. It’s been much more difficult to get cardio in, but I’m still going to BC and modifying my workouts with trainer input. FCE also has other business partners that help you round out your health and fitness needs. I’ve benefitted from Body in Harmony’s rolfing expertise, and Angie has worked with me on my food diary by offering nutritional recommendations. If you need help with certain health and fitness goals, just ask! Angie has built and acquired a team of knowledgeable trainers and staff to help you reach your goals, whatever they might be.

What is your favorite part of FCE? The workouts never grow old, tiresome or boring. FCE does a great job of changing up workouts to keep your interest. And they work! I still get sore from a workout if I’ve had to take a week or two off from exercise. And if it’s something you don’t “love,” anyone can do it for 30 minutes (or 50 seconds) and move on to the next! My absolute favorite workout is Angie’s classic 30 minute circuit full body strength workout with weights.

What advice would you offer to newbies? My best advice to newbies is to set small, achievable goals for yourself. Start out with committing to two workouts (on average) a week. Make small changes to your diet to eat better and healthier. Once one improved lifestyle habit is achieved, another will follow. One thing I’ve learned first-hand is what you put into your mouth dictates much of what you achieve in your weight loss goals. I’ve also learned to embrace my body where ever I am in the process (lighter, heavier, weaker, stronger). Small, daily “wins” is the best goal!

In one sentence how would you describe your experience at FCE?  FCE has empowered me to improve and maintain healthier eating habits and commit to a regular exercise routine. Thank you Angie & staff!!
